What to expect:
May is Missing Maps month! For those who may not have heard of it, Missing Maps is a joint venture between The American Red Cross, The British Red Cross, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team and Doctors without Borders with the stated goal of “putting the world’s vulnerable people on the map”. We’ll be joining volunteers of all levels to map remote areas of the world using OSM, from supporting malaria eradication efforts in Southern Africa, to possibly helping disaster relief efforts for the recent earthquake in Ecuador.
What to bring:
Be sure to bring your laptop! You won't need any special software for this tutorial, just a web browser. A USB mouse will also make mapping easier.
Target Audience:
Anyone interested in humanitarian mapping and OpenStreetMap. Beginners encouraged!
Can’t wait to get started? Check out the official Missing Maps websit (http://missingmaps.org)e, the monthly Red Cross announcement/signup page (http://tinyurl.com/MMSea), and upcoming events on OSM Seattle (http://www.meetup.com/OpenStreetMap-Seattle/).
Where to go:
Someone will be waiting to let you in by the main entrance of the King County building. If nobody is there, please call 206-477-4593 and we'll send someone down.
